Materials and care

My wood carving knives are all made of high carbon tool steel with added nickel for corrosion resistance and as such should be occasionally oiled with mineral oil or waxed with a product like Minwax finish wax paste to prevent rust.

Also oil or wax after sharpening or exposure to water. Learn how to sharpen them here!

The handles are yellow cedar and are unfinished. They will develop a nice dark patina with use and require no maintenance.

2" Wide Wood Carving Curved Adze

This curved adze blade is amazing for texturing and roughing the inside of masks, bowels, canoes, etc. This straight (or flat) adze allows you to quickly remove tons of material with amazing control and precise cuts. It is often called the equivalent of a band saw on a stick while leaving the wonderfully smooth finish you expect from your carving knives.

This wood carving adze blade is 2" wide and 6 1/4" long overall with a 1" wide tang.

This adze blade is made from 1/8" thick high carbon steel for the most demanding wood carving. The bevel is a single primary bevel at 20 degrees making it especially suitable for carving in cedar and other soft woods.

It has a 4" steel rod through the head to prevent splitting.

It is designed in the native northwest coast style of wood carving adze.
